Niko Janik

One of the most driven athletes on the Fight Zone London competition team, Nikodem Janik - commonly known as Niko - started training martial arts at the age of 14 in his hometown of Rzeszow, Poland.

During his teenage years, Niko discovered grappling, then opting to allocate all his resources towards training every style available to him in his area code. This included judo, freestyle wrestling, and sambo. Although deeply invested in all these martial arts, the more Janik learned, the more he dreamed of training (what he believed to be) the ultimate grappling style, Brazilian jiu-jitsu. With this in mind, in 2014 24 year old Niko decided to move to London, one of the strongest BJJ hubs in Europe, committed to finding the best instruction possible.

Initially content in a smaller gym, Niko quickly realized he needed to widen his horizons, finding his way to Fight Zone where he arrived as a blue belt. Janik quickly adhered to Marco Canha's training methodology and became one of the most active members of the UK's grappling circuit, earning many medals on the AJP and IBJJF tours, including medals at the European No-Gi Open.

Not only a solid competitor, Niko Janik is also a student of the game who loves to spend time analyzing matches and techniques. These character traits have earned the young Polish athlete a Black belt from coach Marco Canha (11/22) and a spot as one of the team's main no-gi instructors.
